Consulting Club at the Texas Medical Center (CCTMC) represents a group of driven advanced degree students and postdocs from the nation’s leading medical schools and research institutions in the Texas Medical Center. Our members are comprised of biomedical Ph.D. Candidates and Postdoctoral Fellows from the nations leading medical schools and research institutions. As trailblazers in our respective fields, the Consulting Club prepares members to transition from academia to careers in management consulting.
We are the largest and premier graduate consulting and business careers organization at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, led by advanced-degree candidates with 100+ members across disciplines. Our mission bridges research expertise with strategy careers, emphasizing healthcare, life sciences, and data-driven problem solving through pro bono projects, case interview training, boot camps, and industry workshops.
DACC prepares students for their future management consulting careers. DACC members participate in real industry and non-profit management consulting projects, case interview practices, project management training, and interviews with current and incoming consultants. DACC's goal is to help students realize their career plan as a management consultant.
St. Jude Consulting Forum is a trainee-led professional organization that prepares graduate students and research scientists for careers in management consulting. We provide structured consulting training, interview preparation, speaker workshops, and pro bono consulting engagements with real-world impact across healthcare, life sciences, and nonprofit sectors.
Quan Mai is a PhD student at MD Anderson Cancer Center who is researching the use of radiation to induce targetable tumor vulnerabilities via antibody-drug conjugates. He is also serving as the Senior Vice President at CCTMC, where he leads efforts in sponsorship/CCTMC's finances management and educational seminar organizing.
Saptarshi Shai is a 3rd year PhD student at Baylor College of Medicine. His research focuses on identifying novel therapeutic targets for leukemic stem cells and leveraging preclinical animal models to understand those targets and their biological mechanisms, thereby optimizing patient-centered treatment strategies in adult myeloid leukemia. He also serve on the executive team of the Consulting Club at the Texas Medical Center, where he leads cross-functional teams, organize national case competitions with 200+ participants, and forge key partnerships to support professional development. He operates effectively at the intersection of research and strategy, and is looking to facilitate and guide solutions to complex problems and innovations across a range of industries.
Ahmad Elgazzar is a PhD candidate in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at Rice University. Ahmad specializes in designing electrochemical systems that convert waste carbon dioxide into value-added fuels and chemicals. He is currently the co-VP of Finance and Communicationa at CCTMC.
Boning Yang is a PhD candidate in the Cancer and Cell Biology program at Baylor College of Medicine. Her academic training spans cell biology, biochemistry, and cancer research. Alongside her research, Boning currently serves as the Director of Finance and Communications at CCTMC, where she leads sponsorship strategy, designs sponsorship packages, and supports fundraising efforts for the case competition.
Enina Egiebor is a PhD student in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at Rice University. Her reserach focuses on direct solar-to-fuel conversion and designing catalysts to optimize the production of valuable products. Enina is currently a Director of Finance and Communication at CCTMC.
Ian Choi is Founder and CEO of SingleServ, a food-tech startup, and brings consulting and advisory experience at the intersection of science, innovation, and strategy. She previously served on the advisory board of SicPama, a data-driven restaurant technology startup, advising on early-stage product and growth strategy; the company later won first prize in the Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Partners’ Upscale Program and has since expanded across Asia with offices in Seoul and Singapore. She has also supported nanomaterials safety initiatives with international stakeholders, including the OECD and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. As President of the UNC Graduate Business & Careers Club, she led interdisciplinary and pro bono consulting engagements advancing science-driven innovation and public health strategy.
Alex Walls is a PhD candidate in the Microbiology and Immunology Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the lab of Dr. Adam Rosenthal. His research focuses on bacterial behavior and transcriptional heterogeneity in the context of urinary tract infections and the vaginal microbiome. He is currently the Director of External Partnerships for the Graduate Business Careers Club at UNC-CH.
Dr. Sadakatali Gori is an Associate Scientist in the Center for Translational Pharmacology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and is Founder & President of the St. Jude Consulting Forum. He completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Louisville and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Neurology at Johns Hopkins University, where he worked on preclinical drug discovery. Before joining Johns Hopkins, he led R&D and Operations at Breath Diagnostics Inc., a medical device startup focused on noninvasive cancer detection; and as a Tech Transfer Specialist & Quality Engineer at Argentum Medical LLC, a company that manufactures and sells innovative wound care products . He has also led multiple pro bono consulting projects through the Johns Hopkins Graduate Consulting Club and Yale Graduate Consulting Club; and advises healthcare startups in diagnostics, NeuroTech and AI-driven technologies.
Hrshita is a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Duke university, specializing in machine learning towards drug discovery and delivery. She also serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Duke Microbiome startup facilitating the logistics of organizing and conducting informational seminars for careers outside of academia. Prior to her PhD at Duke, she worked in the biopharmaceutical industry over a period of 4 years. She serves as the Case Competition director at DACC, leading the club's case competitons and casathon.
Siyao is a PhD candidate in Cell biology and the current co-president of DACC. With her extensive experience in pro bono project and case interview preparation, she has helped over 80 ADC students prepare for transitioning into consulting. In addition to her position at DACC, Siyao also serves as a Senior technology transfer fellow at the Duke's office for translation and commercialization to help evaluate new technology innovations. In her free time, Siyao enjoys traveling and spending time with her two cats, Sesame and Cookie.
Evelyn Hong is a PhD student in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Duke University. Her research focuses on vascular infection mechanobiology, using controlled shear stress platforms and tissue-engineered blood vessel models to study how hemodynamic forces regulate endothelial activation, intracellular bacterial persistence, and immune cell recruitment such as monocyte adhesion and transmigration. She previously worked with Duke’s Office for Translation & Commercialization, conducting technology assessments and gaining experience in early-stage commercialization and market analysis. Outside the lab, she serves as Associate Director for Case Competition in the Duke Advanced Degree Consulting Club (DACC), where she organizes the club’s case competitions.
